When constructing search statements, you apply the same basic rules as you do when writing sentences. You can construct a simple search statement or a sophisticated search statement. You use a selection from each of the three columns in the Search dialog box to construct the search statements.
Simple Search Statement contains a subject (Column 1), a verb (Column 2), and a subject descriptor (Column 3). Fields with entry helpers allow you to select one or more subject descriptors. You use the Or and And radio buttons to indicate the type of conjunction you want to use to connect one or more search elements.
An example of a simple search statement is:
Orientation equals HORIZONTAL Or NONE.
Sophisticated Search Statement contains all the elements of the simple search statement, as well as one or more qualifiers joined by a conjunction from the Query Link pop-up menu to show the relationship among the individual search statements.
An example of a sophisticated search statement is:
Photographer equals FINK, ALAN But Not ORIENTATION equals VERTICAL.
KODAK Browser software allows you to enter additional search lines for sophisticated searches, to clear search statements, and to start the search action. You select Add Query to generate an additional search statement line. You use Clear Query to remove the highlighted search statement.
